How to play IceShift fantasy hockey

IceShift combines a 12-player fantasy hockey draft with weekly head-to-head scoring and questions about games on the slate. Here is what to expect from a week, from your first pick to the final score.

1. Sign in and choose a matchup

Open IceShift and sign in or create an account. The game saves a season to your account, so use the same username and password when you return on another device. Start with a computer matchup, or create a human matchup and share its invite code with a friend.

A human matchup is a separate draft: starting one does not replace your computer roster. Daily-call points count in both matchups.

2. Draft a 12-player roster

IceShift uses a 12-round snake draft. Picks alternate between the two sides; the side that picks second in one round picks first in the next. Choose from the player pool and compare positions, schedules, season and recent stats, and projections as you make your roster.

The game shows a featured statistic for the week. Its displayed modifier is a 40% boost to the eligible stat value used in fantasy scoring. The featured category can change, so check the current game screen rather than assuming the same stat is boosted every week.

Fantasy hockey scoring: points per stat

IceShift calculates weekly roster points from NHL box-score stats. These are the base fantasy points awarded for each tracked event, before any eligible featured-stat bonus.

An eligible featured stat earns an additional 40% of its normal fantasy-point value for the week. The featured “Power-play points” category uses power-play goals in live box-score scoring. Goalie goals against, wins, and shutouts do not receive the featured-stat bonus. If a featured category is not tracked in live box scores, it does not receive the bonus; the draft room identifies this.

3. Make daily calls before games start

Daily calls are questions about listed games—for example, which player records more points or which team scores more power-play goals. Select one answer while the question is open. A submitted answer locks and cannot be changed; answers stop being accepted when the featured game starts.

Once the game is resolved, correct calls add challenge points to your weekly total. These points apply to your computer matchup and, if you have one, your human matchup too. Check the call status in the game to see whether a question is still open or has been resolved.

4. Follow scoring through the week

The live-week screen separates roster points from challenge points and shows the opponent's total and the tracked game slate. Player results contribute according to IceShift's scoring system and the current featured-stat modifier. You can open a player line in the game to review its stat breakdown.

Data availability can vary. Check the data-source label: when live data is unavailable, IceShift identifies a demo feed instead of labeling it as live scoring. A displayed demo slate is not a live NHL update.

Optional: collect cards and trade player stocks

The game has a card vault, collectible packs, a credit store, and a marketplace. Its NHL player stock market uses game credits, with quotes affected by seven-day on-ice stats, hockey headlines, and estimated public Reddit fan buzz.

Skater points, plus-minus, shots, hits, blocks, and penalties can move quotes; goalie wins, saves, shutouts, and goals against also count. Active NHL players, including IR-listed players, remain tradable. Read about the player stock market.
